After she was removed from her parents due to sexual abuse, Josie and her two siblings first entered the foster care system when she was only 8 years old. During her time in foster care, Josie had 14 to 16 different placements, including one adoption. Eventually, Josie aged out of the foster care system and is currently 24 years old, works full time, goes to school, and aspires to become a teacher to be a mentor for children. Josie not only shares her story of her time in foster care, but shares her insight on how the foster system and those involved can make a difference in a child’s life while in care and once they age out.
If you are a former foster child who aged out of the system and want to share your story, email us at agedoutproject@gmail.com! You deserve to be heard.
